Shajara Tayyiba was founded in 2010 with just 9 young girls in a basement. Now, almost 8 years later, we have Alhamdulillah, almost 80 kids. In 2015, we bought our own building, but we are quickly outgrowing that, so in 2018 we bought our own land with plans to build a school that works for us.
We plan to expand our services, which now includes a fully functioning school, preschool, full-time hifz, summer school, and after-school programs open to the whole community. In order to do all of this and insha Allah much more, we need the funds to expand. Currently we need to pay off our land and break ground, which is why every penny that is being donated goes towards a building of our own and YOU can be a part of that. Just imagine the few dollars you give being the area where the teacher listens to the last juz of a hafizah, or where a 4 year old learns to pray, or where hundreds of kids make wudu!
The Need To Grow!
"Alhamdulillah big shout out to Shajara Tayyiba for which Maheen Malik and I moved to Canton MI, leaving our comfort zone behind and it took lot of sacrifice and changes to make sure the kids receive superior Islamic and secular knowledge while maintaining a strong Islamic character not found in public schools. I can truly say while every Islamic project has its challenges, this is an Islamic school that truly delivers on the promise of balanced education with character. My wife has been an inspiration to watch as a mother and teacher at the school and it has been extremely difficult for her to manage everything but she has kept her focus on the bigger goal.
While people like to talk about deficiencies of Islamic schools, I had to write this post to point out the fruits of the school and acknowledge all the teachers. You are our REAL HEROES. You don't just give knowledge but you build love of Allah SWT in our children which no money in the world can ever repay you for, but your reward with Allah SWT is unimaginable.
No one asked me to write this post, but it comes from the heart of the father who is happy that his kids are in good hands.
By the blessings of Allah SWT in less than 6 months the progress has been unprecedented.
(𝟏𝟏 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐥𝐝) - has memorized over half of Surah Baqarah, has finished major chapters of the Quran with its Tafseer and historical analysis, has become an expert in presenting complicated topics in front of adult audience, and has a strong grasp of the Arabic language. Her confidence level as a hijabi girl, proud of her religion, brings joy to the heart as a parent.
I love having deeper discussions of ayat of the Quran with her because she has deep understanding of them through her tafseer classes. Her secular knowledge has been at par with her Islamic knowledge. She attends full weekend AlMaghrib Institute classes for many years and her chill sessions with her friends from school mostly involve some type of fun Islamic activity.
(𝟖 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐥𝐝) - has memorized close to a juzz, has started to wear the hijab by her choice, has superseded her parents in Arabic and made some great friends that motivate her to be a good Muslimah. Her presentation skills and confidence has improved tremendously going from being shy to stand in front of an audience to presenting her science fair project in a public library.
(𝟑 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐥𝐝) - has developed amazing mental, physical and character building skills where he is able to appreciate Islam because of the environment around him. Most of the times when everyone is quiet you will hear him reciting multiple verses of the Quran (not memorized but they are etched in his memory by listening to his teachers all day), humming nasheeds and practicing his Arabic words by pointing at different objects around the house and calling them out by their Arabic names.
May Allah SWT bless the school and it continue to grow and benefit other families."
